Adam Kasprzak, O.L.S. began working in Renfrew County in 1986 as a partnership with other land surveyors, known as Sury, Rowe & Kasprzak. In 1998, the present company was established as Adam Kasprzak Surveying Ltd., involving the purchase of records from these other land surveyors. In 2004, the firm purchased the companies and records of John Goltz Surveying and D.W. Patterson Surveying (both which were operating in Pembroke). We provide a variety of professional land surveying and consultation needs for municipalities, government, private businesses, and the public within Renfrew County and surrounding areas.

Adam Kasprzak Surveying Ltd. is looking for a full-time Field Technician. The position is for the Renfrew branch office, working alongside an experienced group of professional draftspersons, calculators, administration and Ontario Land Surveyors. The position start date is flexible between August 30 and September 6.

About The Role

The Survey Technician-Assistant role requires a self-motivated and responsible individual who will work one-on-one with an experienced survey party chief to perform cadastral land surveys in the Renfrew County area. As a team member of an established local firm, the successful candidate will be working in an educational environment that encourages professional development and personal growth.

Survey projects are typically in rural areas. The successful candidate will work in the field all year round, in varying weather conditions, and accordingly, must be comfortable and experienced outdoors.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist the party chief in planning and conducting boundary, topographic and engineering surveys and construction layout
  • Interpret plans and drawings to assist with field activities
  • Assist the party chief with field calculations, search for and assessment of survey evidence
  • Assist the party chief in keeping clear field notes providing sufficient and accurate information
  • Manage field data,  downloading and uploading fieldwork data and photos
  • Keep clear and organized records
  • Keep the truck and survey equipment organized, cleaned and ready for the workday
  • Ensure proper care and storage and charging of surveying equipment
  • Promote and follow all health and safety regulations
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • Valid G driver's licence
  • Attention to detail
  • Organization skills
  • Tact and communication skills with members of the public and team members
  • Comfortable working outdoors in challenging physical and environmental conditions
  • Open to learning new skills and trade of legal surveys in Ontario

Assets:

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Proficiency with total stations, GPS, level and land surveying
  • Working knowledge of Microsurvey and AutoCAD, and survey equipment and practices
