The town is accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.

Under the supervision of the Manager of Water & Wastewater, the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will support the operations and maintenance of the Class IV wastewater treatment facility in accordance with legislative requirements and approved policies and procedures.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will possess:

  • College diploma from a two-year program in civil or environmental studies. (or equivalent education and experience)
  • Possess a valid operator certificate(s) for wastewater treatment OIT (operator-In-training) or higher. (Ability to obtain a Class I licenses within 18 months of hire.)
  • Other wastewater or water certificates would be considered an asset.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) along with demonstrated experience with SCADA and other relevant software programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key legislation including the Environmental Protection Act, Clean Water Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Federal Wastewater System Effluent Regulations and other related legislation.
  • Must have knowledge and familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics applications relating to water and wastewater treatment. Ability to interpret manuals and other resources relating to water and wastewater treatment operations.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license (Class G).
  • Inside and outside work in all seasons, overtime/weekend work may be required, participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Expected to report to work in emergency situations during unscheduled times.
