We are recruiting for Personal Support Workers at Bonnechere Manor. There are full-time, part-time and relief positions available.

Under the direction and supervision of the Resident Care Coordinator(s), the Personal Support Worker (PSW) delivers resident-focused care within full scope of practice of a PSW, in a home-like environment, respecting the individuality and dignity of each resident, family and co-workers including the completion of the following duties:

  • Participates in all aspects of personal resident care to ensure the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of each resident and family are met under the direction of the registered staff and/or resident care coordinator(s).
  • Utilizes therapeutic communication by establishing a working relationship with residents, families and co-workers.
  • Participates in formulating, delivering and reporting the daily resident care needs and personal preferences by:
    • gathering pertinent data,
    • seeking direction from registered staff,
      • observing residents for any changes and reporting immediately,
    • assessing behaviours and activities of daily living and reporting at designated times, and
    • reporting unusual events promptly and directly.
  • Delivers effective and efficient care that promotes residen's and family's choice and acknowledges the resident's strengths, limitations and need for safety and the safety of others
  • Assist with serving meals, feeding, providing nourishment supplements, transporting and transferring residents
  • Respond to any resident in need regarding call bells, telephone ringing and assisting any employee in need of help
  • Ensures daily, the neatness of residents' rooms, furniture, clothes closets, mobility devices, tub, washrooms, utility rooms, kitchen and serveries
  • Participates in multidisciplinary committee work and care conference, unit meetings, general staff meetings, and PSW meetings
  • Participates in continuing education and continuous quality improvement of the care unit and associated care services specific to long-term care
  • Creates a facility environment that protects confidentiality of residents, staff and activities
  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable provincial and municipal acts and County of Renfrew opeartional policies
  • Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety
  • Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Personal Support Worker certificate
  • Certificate from a food safety awareness program recognized by a public health unit
  • –Experience in a long-term care setting is an asset
  • Therapeutic verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a team approach, and adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to perform assigned duties within a flexible work schedule inside a 24 hour a day 7 day a week operation
  • Ability to meet and maintain health requirement standards as per long-term care legislation
Additional Information


  • Full-time wage: $27.86 - $28.20 per hour, includes comprehensive benefits and pension plan.
  • Part-time and relief wage: $31.76 - $32.15 per hour with optional pension plan enrolment. 


  • New recruits who accept permanent, full-time employment are eligible to receive a $5,000 incentive with a two-year commitment.
  • New recruits who accept permanent, part-time employment are eligible to receive a $2,500 incentive with a two-year commitment.
  • New recruits who accept permanent, casual or relief employment are eligible to receive a $500 incentive with a one-year commitment
  • Recent PSW graduates are eligible for a $10,000 incentive with a one-year commitment
  • Up to $10,000 in covered relocation fees for successful and eligible candidates
