Junior Engineering Technician

The County of Renfrew is a municipal government stretching west from Ottawa to the northern tip of historic Algonquin Park. Founded in 1861, the County of Renfrew is the largest county in Ontario and is comprised of 17 communities, providing service to 107,000 residents.

The County of Renfrew is currently recruiting for two Junior Engineering Technicians. These are summer student positions from April 26, 2021 to August 27, 2021.

The Junior Engineering Technician has the following duties:

• assists with preliminary engineering field survey and construction layout;
• construction supervision;
• collection, compilation and analysis of field data pertaining to the county road and bridge systems;
• data entry;
• preparation of summary reports and documents;
• accumulation of traffic data; preparation and reproduction of plans and other documents;
• construction review; and
• related duties as assigned.

• University or college registration, preferably in civil or structural engineering or technology
• Registration in September 2021 at a post-secondary institution is a prerequisite
• Proficient in the use of computers and computer software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, AutoCAD, etc.)
• Physically capable of performing assigned duties
• Must have valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
• Must provide personal CSA approved safety boots and footwear
• Survey course would be considered an asset
