Located within the rolling hills of Northumberland County and bordered by Lake Ontario in the South and Rice Lake in the North, the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand is seeking Public Works Summer Students for the 2019 season. These are full-time, contract positions that run from Monday, April 29, 2019, until Friday, August 23, 2019.

The Public Works Summer Students are responsible assisting in the maintenance of road surfaces and roadsides, as well as traffic control. This includes, but is not limited to, duties such as:

  • Road patching;
  • Surface treatment;
  • Picking up debris and litter from roadsides;
  • Flagging;
  • Sweeping operations;
  • Forestry operations, brushing and tree inventory;
  • Sign repairs; and
  • Hand digging and backfilling where necessary for groundwork

In order to be considered for a position, the applicant must be a youth between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred, have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Additional Information

Compensation: The wage for this position is $14.00 per hour.
