The Town of Hawkesbury is looking for a Communications Coordinator to contribute to the strategic development and outreach of the municipality. This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week. The candidate may be required to work evenings or on weekends.

Through their expertise, innovation and enthusiasm, the chosen candidate contributes to the development of the community by fostering a sense of proximity between the elected officials, the municipal services and the different clienteles: citizens, media, employees, organizations and businesses.

Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Communications Coordinator plans, communicates and executes the communication strategy to promote the town, participates in the design of various communication tools and provides consulting support.


The ideal candidate has a post-secondary education in marketing, communication or equivalent combined with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in communication, preferably in the public sector. The candidate must have advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and is required to be fluently bilingual, French and English (oral and written).

As this position is central to the town’s communications, the creative candidate must demonstrate an excellent writing ability and quality. The successful candidate must have a great deal of knowledge of social media and communications trends; have a strategic vision, a spirited analysis and synthesis as well as a political sense.
