Renfrew Hydro Inc. (RHI) is a wholly-owned, local distribution company of the Town of Renfrew. The company serves approximately 4,250 customers by delivering a dependable supply of electricity and providing the highest level of service to its customer base.

We are currently recruiting for a Director of Finance. This is a full-time position.

Reporting to the President, the Director of Finance directs and oversees the financial stewardship of Renfrew Hydro Inc., ensuring continuous improvement in quality and profitability as well as ensuring all regulatory compliance and reporting obligations are met. The incumbent will assist in the development of corporate strategies and plans, and in addition, expertly support the board of directors and serve as the corporate secretary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and auditing
  • Develop, implement and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems; ensure that records are appropriately controlled and maintained
  • Collaborate with the President on business cases to support new business activities
  • Manage relationships with shareholder, regulatory bodies, partners, insurance and major service providers
  • Direct the office administration, customer service and corporate communications portfolios
  • Conduct an assessment of financial models in place; develop, revise and implement financial models, processes and reporting to meet organizational and regulatory body needs
  • Manage business funding and cash flow, both long and short term
  • Develop budgets and forecasting, in alignment with strategy
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and variance analysis
  • Compile and prepare financial and statistical data for regulatory reporting
  • Manage the cost of service rate application process with the Ontario Energy Board
  • Perform price change impact analysis, including corporate risk and profitability assessments
  • Monitor and analyse risks, including recommending any mitigation actions required
  • Manage the office administration and finance team, including the senior business administrator and the Billing Supervisor-Financial Analyst
  • Oversee the development and implementation of enhanced financial and customer service processes
  • Is accountable for, and actively promotes health and safety with employees which include ensuring employees receive necessary and appropriate safety training
  • Provide financial leadership to the management team
  • Effective January 2021, serving as secretary to the board of directors, including reporting on the financial position, agenda distribution and minute reporting
  • Provide insights on the implementation of innovative work processes KPI reporting to enhance corporate efficiency
  • Participate as an active member of the management team, not only driving the financial aspects but bringing general business acumen to the wider team
Qualifications
  • CPA or degree in business administration, commerce or equivalent
  • 8 or more years of progressive financial experience, preferably in a regulatory environment
  • Proven leader with a passion for coaching and developing others
  • Knowledge of the electricity or the regulatory sector is an asset
  • Highly motivated with strong leadership qualities
  • Strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills with a clear focus on the delivery of excellent customer service
  • Proven communication skills with customers, shareholders, executives and service providers
  • Energized to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficient in using technology to enhance financial data, reporting and information management
  • Ability to multitask with competing priorities
  • Creative in approach to problem-solving
  • Customer-centric with an attitude of commitment and excellence with service delivery
