Description:

The Renfrew County District School Board is recruiting for an Assistant Manager, Benefits & Payroll. This is a full-time position, 12 months of the year and is based at the administration office in Pembroke.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the successful candidate will work in a team environment to provide leadership and direction to the benefits and payroll department of the board. In addition, this position plays a key role in benefits and compensation administration, negotiations and budget support.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the human resources department to administer effective employee benefits programs
  • Analyzing and reviewing benefit costing for benefit renewals
  • Supervision and support of payroll staff including hiring, training, performance management and professional development
  • Developing salary and benefits budgets for annual budgeting and labour negotiations
  • Preparing and analyzing various board financial and other reports for budgeting, monitoring, forecasting and for other purposes
  • Preparing audit working papers and specified analysis for interim and year-end audits
  • Participating in various committees and meetings
Qualifications
  • A professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or in the process of obtaining
  • Payroll and/or benefit certification are assets
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy of results and reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, and financial accounting software
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet timelines
