Description:

Antrim Truck Stop offers a variety of services for customers including two gift shops, The Hangar Restaurant, fuel services, a convenience store and The Big Rigs Bakery. The Hangar Restaurant is a 148-seat family style restaurant that is open from 5:00am to 11:00pm, seven days a week. We provide homemade meals cooked from scratch and friendly service.

We currently require a Restaurant Kitchen Manager. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the overall operations for the back of house and kitchen area of a restaurant and ensures everyone is trained on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques.  In addition, Kitchen Managers make sure that the company standards are upheld:  the food is cooked and presented properly, the proportions are correct and meals are cooked and served quickly.  Kitchen Managers also make sure the kitchen is properly cleaned on a daily basis according to the cleaning schedule, food is stored appropriately or disposed of properly and the kitchen meets all sanitary standards.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in food service management or hotel and restaurant management is an asset
  • Previous management experience in a high volume, full-service restaurant
  • Proven leadership skills including people development, floor management, company policies and procedures, time management, coaching, problem-solving, decision making and negotiation skills
  • Ability to follow company rules and expectations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including showing initiative, a positive attitude, communication skills, professional appearance and grooming
  • Ability to establish effective work relationships
  • Commitment to high standards
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and employees
  • Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments involving sensitive confidential issues under stressful conditions
  • Self-motivated to continually improve performance and restaurant results
  • Ability to maintain confidence and professionalism while navigating through ambiguous and complex situations
  • Ability to create work schedules for kitchen staff
