The municipality is seeking an energetic and qualified Administrative Assistant for the position of Administrative Assistant, Planning and Building.

Reporting to the Director of Planning and Building, the Administrative Assistant provides support to the department and coordinates appointment and inspection scheduling, sets up meetings, prepares and distributes meeting documentation, materials and correspondence and takes minutes accurately and concisely.

The position engages extensively with the public, provides administrative support as the secretary-treasurer for the committee of adjustment, assists the director and Chief Building Official with the accurate handling and maintenance of department records. The Administrative Assistnat supports the director with council report preparation, research and budget preparation. The Administrative Assistant works collaboratively with other employees, supports the corporate team and provides reception services as requested by ensuring that information to the public is considered and accurate. The position requires an individual who pays attention to detail, has an orientation to public service and is flexible and able to adjust priorities as needed.

  • A diploma in business or office administration or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 2 years of clerical or office experience in a municipal or similar environment
  • Strong time management and administrative capabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective organizational skills
Additional Information

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience; Salary range is currently under review.
